The 2027 Chevrolet Equinox EV: The Sensible Electric SUV Gets a NACS Port and Keeps Its $34,995 Starting Price
There is a certain kind of car that never trends on social media. It just shows up, offers useful range and space, and costs a reasonable amount of money. The Chevrolet Equinox EV is that kind of car, and for 2027 Chevrolet has done the sensible thing again. The starting price is unchanged, the range is unchanged, and a native NACS port for Tesla Superchargers is now standard.
This is what the 2027 Equinox EV costs, what changed, how it charges, how much room it has, and who it makes sense for, using the numbers Chevrolet publishes.
Price. $34,995 for the LT 1 with front wheel drive, plus $1,800 destination, the same as 2026. LT 2 and RS are up $300. All wheel drive adds $3,300 on every trim.
Range. 319 miles EPA with front wheel drive, 307 with all wheel drive, on every trim.
New for 2027. A standard NACS charging port, so no adapter at a Tesla Supercharger, and a new White Sands paint color.
Charging. Up to 150 kilowatts on DC fast charging, which Chevrolet says adds up to 80 miles in 10 minutes. An 11.5 kilowatt onboard charger is standard.
Space. 26.4 cubic feet behind the rear seat, 57.2 with it folded, and 38 inches of rear legroom.
Verdict so far. A lot of range for the money, now with a native NACS port. I have not driven it yet, so the rating stays Too Early to Call.
What Changed for 2027
The headline change is the port. Every 2027 Equinox EV comes with a NACS charging port, so it plugs into a compatible Tesla Supercharger without an adapter. Chevrolet’s 2026 page tells owners to order a GM approved NACS DC adapter before using a Supercharger. For 2027 that step is gone, and Chevrolet says the new port “expands access to more charging stations.”
The other changes are small. White Sands joins the color list. The LT 1 holds at $34,995, while the LT 2 and RS each rise $300, to $42,095 and $44,395. Range, power, and the 17.7 inch screen carry over.
What It Costs
Three trims, each with front or all wheel drive. The table shows Chevrolet’s starting MSRP and the delivered price with the $1,800 destination charge, which is what the configurator quotes.

The LT 1 is the value story. For $34,995 you get the same 319 mile EPA rating as every other front wheel drive trim, the 17.7 inch touchscreen, and more than 20 standard safety and driver assistance features including adaptive cruise control. The LT 2 adds $7,100 for heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, and more driver assistance, and the RS adds $2,300 on top of that for the sportier look. Nothing in the upper trims adds range or power, so the base car makes the strongest argument.
Range and Charging
Every Equinox EV is rated at more than 300 miles. Front wheel drive models are EPA rated at 319 miles and all wheel drive models at 307, and Chevrolet’s configurator lists the LT 1 FWD at 117 MPGe in the city, 100 on the highway, and 108 combined. Chevrolet’s 2026 page lists an 85 kilowatt hour battery and about 42 minutes for a 10 to 80 percent fast charge, and Chevrolet has not announced any change to the battery for 2027.
On the road, the Equinox EV accepts up to 150 kilowatts on a DC fast charger, and Chevrolet says that adds up to 80 miles of range in 10 minutes. The Tesla Model Y has a higher peak DC fast charging rate, and I have compared the two directly. At home, the onboard charger accepts up to 11.5 kilowatts from a Level 2 charger that can supply it, which is enough to refill the battery overnight.
For road trips, the port is the change you will feel. A 2026 owner needs the GM adapter to use a Supercharger. A 2027 owner plugs straight in, and Chevrolet says the car has access to more than 250,000 public chargers across North America.
Space Inside
Chevrolet calls this a compact SUV, and the tape says it is a big one. It is 190.6 inches long on a 116.3 inch wheelbase, 76.9 inches wide, and 64.8 inches tall, with 6.4 inches of ground clearance. Chevrolet lists 102.2 cubic feet of passenger volume, 39.2 inches of front headroom, and 38.0 inches of rear legroom.

Cargo is 26.4 cubic feet behind the second row and 57.2 with it folded, and the cargo floor has two height positions, so you can choose a flat load floor or a deeper well. Those are useful family numbers. The Equinox EV is 17 to 21 inches longer than the Bolt, the Kia EV3, and the Nissan Leaf, which start $5,000 to $7,400 lower on MSRP, but the cabin numbers are closer than the length suggests. The Bolt has more rear legroom, and all three come within two cubic feet of the Equinox EV’s folded cargo volume.
Tech and Driver Assist
The 17.7 inch center touchscreen is the biggest thing in the cabin, and Chevrolet calls it the largest among EVs in its class. Google is built in, with Google Maps and available Google Gemini, and there is no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, which Chevrolet confirms on its own FAQ. If you live in CarPlay, know that going in.

Chevrolet backs the battery and electric components for 8 years or 100,000 miles, with 3 years or 36,000 miles of bumper to bumper coverage and 5 years or 60,000 miles of roadside assistance.
Who It Is For
The Equinox EV is for the buyer who wants an electric family SUV with real range and does not want to spend $45,000 to get it. At $34,995 the LT 1 FWD delivers 319 miles, and Chevrolet calls it “America’s most affordable 315 plus mile range compact SUV EV.” If you need all wheel drive, the extra $3,300 costs you 12 miles of range and raises output from 220 to 300 horsepower.
It is not for the buyer who wants the quickest charging or CarPlay. If charging speed matters most, the Tesla Model Y is the one to look at, and I have compared them directly. If CarPlay matters most, the Kia EV3 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 both have it.
What I Cannot Tell You Yet
I have not driven the 2027 Equinox EV. Ride, noise, seat comfort, how the software behaves after a month, and how close the real world range runs to the EPA figure are questions a spec sheet cannot answer, and those are the ones that decide whether a car this sensible is also one you like.
